Studio

Named for a root that takes years.

ORRIS Body & Mind is a boutique Pilates, yoga and sound healing studio at Laguna Niguel City Center. We built it because life moves fast, and most of us need more than a workout.

Why ORRIS

Our name comes from the orris root — the root of the iris, prized in perfumery for the patience it demands: years of quiet maturing before it reveals its depth.

That idea shapes everything here. Wellness begins at the root, and lasting change is built slowly, with intention. It is also why we are not interested in the fastest possible version of anything.

Two practices, one place

Most studios choose a side. We think strength and calm only really work together — and that you should not have to drive across Orange County to find both.

Body

Reformer Pilates

Fitness-driven work on professional Merrithew equipment, taught in small groups so every movement gets expert eyes and honest coaching. Precision rather than intensity for its own sake.

Mind

Meditative yoga & sound healing

Singing bowl sound baths, slow flow yoga and guided meditation — three classes built to lower the volume of a fast week rather than add to it.

The studio, specifically

Adjectives are easy and every studio uses the same ones. These are the details that actually change what an hour here feels like.

EquipmentMerrithew reformers

Professional machines from the company behind the STOTT PILATES method, so the cueing you hear matches the springs under you.

Class length50 minutes

Every class, both sides of the studio. Long enough to do the work properly, short enough to fit either end of a working day.

Class sizeSmall groups

Small enough that the instructor corrects you by name rather than shouting at a room. Nothing goes uncorrected.

AfterwardsThe lounge

Coffee, tea and something light. It is part of the studio, not an afterthought — most people find the twenty minutes after class matter as much as the fifty during it.

Who teaches you

A studio is only as good as the person watching your form. So rather than adjectives, here is what we have actually trained in.

Founder

Jess

Certified in STOTT PILATES. She teaches the reformer work and sets the standard the rest of the teaching team is hired against.

The method

STOTT PILATES

A contemporary approach that rebuilt the classical repertoire around modern spinal biomechanics. It is why Foundations spends a whole class on setup, and why nobody gets pushed into a movement their body is not ready for.

Now hiring

The rest of the team

We are building the teaching team ahead of opening and are looking for Pilates and yoga instructors who teach this way — small groups, real corrections, no ego. Write to studio.orris@gmail.com.
